A steak house that gets everything right, from the cuts of meat to the live entertainment. Some confuse the serious nature of steak making and serving with stuffiness, but the service tempered with jazzy piano tunes is what makes cutting into prime rib or filet all the more enjoyable. The lemon butter sauce and Brussel sprouts nicely complement the rare steaks.

The oldest steakhouse in Vilnius has been an institution in the Old Town for over ten years. Renowned for its relaxed surroudings and cultured ambience, the original steakhouse has tried and true formula for lovers of all good things.
The focus at Markus is on quality. Quality food, quality setting, quality staff and even quality entertainers by the way of piano players that renowed composers and musicians, providing a background of jazz music more akin to a concert hall than a restaurant.

Has the feel of an upmarket college pub and has been the favored haunt of many visitors and residents for years. Essentially a better than average steak house, the menu does offer other international dishes as well.

This is the sort of place that relies on simplicity, good food and a pianist to build a reputation and keep two small dining rooms full. Not cheap, but hardly posh – the waiter who served us was wearing jeans, the napkins were paper, the lights weren’t dim and there were no candles – thus leaving the perfectly prepared steak and heavenly herring to separate you from your money.

It’s Litho-American, with black-and-white pictures of Marilyn Monroe on the walls and herring in the menu. The main attraction to this waiters-injeans casual-kinda place, is the quality of the steak. For a big lump of juicy beef, it’s hard to beat. It’s certainly not cheap, but carnivores won’t come away feeling ripped-off.

Fillet mignon enjoys a reputation of being the most tender of all beef cuts, coming right from the heart of the tenderloin. It’s so tender, it can often be cut with a fork. The taste and texture of the Markus steak was exceptional, the mushroom sauce giving it an extra savory quality. You choose the side-dishes and sauces (they cost extra). Our medium-rare steaks came with long, juicy slices of grilled eggplant and zucchini, plus a baked potato that turned out to be the biggest we’ve ever seen in Lithuania.

We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened and we have always been very happy enter the food, the staff and atmosphere. It is our favorite restaurant in Vilnius
